What Is It

A watchdog service for HTC P3300 Arthemis.

New features:

• support localized devices (seems to be complete)
• automatic soft-reset (option)

The service monitors (checks 1 time per minute) all top-level folders on a storage card,
taking three of them into special account:

• \Storage Card^[*]
• \Storage Card\My Documents
• \Storage Card\Program Files

• empty filenames
• strange characters in filenames (I accept western and cyrillic codepages only!)
• timestamps out of 1.1.1980-31.12.2010
• filesize >= 4GB
• the special folder is empty (the installer puts there label files, SdSentry.txt; don't delete them)

If these deadly signs are detected, a 'toast' notification and red icon will appear.
In this case you should immediately stop any work, avoid writing to the storage card, visually check its content (with pocket explorer or total commander), and reanimate (soft reset, checkdisk and so on).

SD Sentry dialog

• start/stop the service (if it works wrong)
• install/uninstall the service (to prevent the service restart after soft reset)
• tell the service to automatically soft-reset your device
• dismiss the notification
• soft reset
• specify the name of Storage Card

Localized name of Storage Card

If your device is localized, so that the memory card's name is Dutch, German, or so on, or if you have tweaked it,
the installer recognizes this fact and takes proper name.
However, if it has mistaken (or if you wish to rename the card after installation), you can manually tell the proper name.
Open SD Sentry dialog, type in the name, then click (/) button to apply changes.

Automatic Soft Reset

If you have check this option in the SD Sentry dialog, the service will soft-reset your device, instead of showing the toast notification.
Even if the storage card is damaged, the service should not enter infinite loop of soft-resetting.

Known bugs

I've tried to fix them, but please check if they remain.

1) The installer doesn't put SdSentry.txt into localized Storage Card folders.
Please copy these files manually.

2) Another issue is that 'Program Files' and 'My Documents' may be localized, too.
In this case, create these two folders with English names.

3) If these folders are empty or contain label files only, this is also treated as corruption. Silly logical bug :(
Please, add any file or folder into them.

Fixed bugs

If \Program Files of main memory is localized, the service couldn't launch.
Now it is installed into \Windows folder.

Install

If you already have installed SdSentry 1.0, please, deinstall it first.

Download SdSentry_12.cab (40kbytes) and copy it into your device's main memory.
Then click it in the Explorer and install into main memory.

This software appears in the list of installed programs as 'N.M. SdSentry'.

DISCLAIMER (a.k.a. PARANOYA)

As far this soft is distributed AS IS and NO WARRANTY,
it's reasonable add some general reanimation software before installing this one.
For example,

• Spb Backup (flexible backing up all contents)
• Spb Pocket Plus (it adds a 'safe mode' option that disables extra services on restart)
